Obesity is a medical condition involving excessive body fat. It is defined as a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 30 and above. Obesity is not only a cosmetic concern, but also a risk of diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.

The conditions we focus on

We have primary experience on managing overweight and obesity. We also look at some symptoms and complications associated to obesity. The conditions include:

  • Overweight (BMI 25 – 29) and obesity (BMI 30 – 39).

  • Conditions associated to obesity such as depression, insomnia and food cravings.

  • Some obesity complications such as metabolic syndrome and osteoarthritis.

  • Our service generally doesn’t cover extreme obesity and severe complications including severe heart disease and severe diabetes.

The treatments we provide

Chinese herbal medicine (CHM): we have mainly used CHM for obesity by reducing blood lipid and improving lipid metabolism. CHM is also beneficial for managing metabolic syndrome, insomnia and food cravings. We commonly use raw herbs, granules or capsules for our clients. All herbal prescriptions are designed for individuals.

Acupuncture: we have commonly used acupuncture for obesity that may regulate lipid metabolism and stimulate central nervous system. It is also beneficial for relieving depression, insomnia, food cravings and osteoarthritis.

Cupping: we have specially used cupping therapy in conjunction with acupuncture for abdominal obesity.

Advice on diets and lifestyle: we provide advice on diets and lifestyles based on the wholistic concept of Chinese medicine.

Please note that the above approaches are meant to be used along with diet, exercise and behavioural changes, not instead of them.
